MAINTENANCE

Maintaining your lawn is easy. All the grass requires is sunlight, water and nutrition. By providing the water and nutrition at the correct time you will have a beautiful lawn. (The sunlight is usually up to Mother Nature but does factor in.)

THE FIRST 3 WEEKS ARE IMPORTANT
The Hydroseed will need to set for 24 hours. After 24 hours it is time to water. Keep the lawn moist preferably by a light sprinkling twice a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening, roughly for about 20 - 30 minutes each time. If it is very hot and dry out you may need to water more often. Do not let the lawn get mucky. Only the top 2 inches needs to be kept moist. Continue this process until the first cutting. After the first cutting you can gradually reduce the frequency of watering and increase the duration. A finished lawn requires roughly one inch of water a week either from Mother Nature or from irrigation.

TOO MUCH AREA TO WATER
If there is too much area to water - Don’t worry. Mother Nature will do the work. All grass seed needs to grow is seven wet days to get started plus a temperature above twelve degrees Celsius. Grass seed will lay dormant for a long time. The Hydroseed mixture will hold the seed and fertilizer in place until this happens.

A great time to seed is in the fall. If you are interested in fall seeding please call us for more information.

FERTILIZING
The Hydroseed mixture included a top quality fertilizer. This fertilization period is important to establish the lawn. A fertilization program should be started but no weed killer of any kind should be used for the two months.

MOWING
The lawn should be mowed as soon as the grass reaches three inches in height. After that, it is best if you keep your lawn at a height of three to three and half inches in height for proper root establishment.

Do not delay in mowing as it will inhibit the germination of slower grass seeds ad will be detrimental in the long run. You should mow your lawn often and use sharp blades on your mower. Dull blades might damage the lawn.

WEED CONTROL
You lawn will develop weeds. These weeds will come from birds, the wind or from within the soil. When your lawn is properly watered, mowed and fertilized the grass will grow in healthy and will provide too much competition for the weeds to get established.

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS
Because Hydroseeding does require the weather to cooperate some-what we cannot warranty any damages caused by severe weather conditions. Please call for details.
